About Assam Agricultural University (AAU)
The roots of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) trace back to 1948 with the simultaneous founding of the Assam Agricultural College in Jorhat and the Assam Veterinary College in Nagaon. The institution was formally unified and established in its current form on April 1, 1969, under the Assam Agricultural University Act of 1968.
Headquartered in Jorhat—Assam’s cultural hub—AAU holds the distinction of being the first agricultural university in Northeast India.
