1. Educational Qualifications
- Medical Degree: A high Postgraduate (PG) qualification in Medicine, Surgery, Public Health, or their branches.
- Recognition: The qualification must be recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI/NMC).
2. Professional Experience
- Mental Health Focus: A minimum of 10 years of teaching and/or research experience specifically in the field of Mental Health.
- Total Career Experience: At least 25 years of total experience in the profession.
- Administrative/Practical Background: Extensive practical and administrative experience in Medical Relief, Medical Education, or a Public Health Organization.
- Leadership Experience: Adequate experience running a significant scientific educational institute, either as the Head of the Institute or as a Head of Department.
3. Deputation Eligibility
Candidates must be officers from Central/State Governments, Autonomous Organizations, Research Institutions, or Universities who meet one of the following:
- Analogous Post: Currently holding an analogous post on a regular basis in their parent cadre or department.
- Service Grade: Possess 3 years of regular service in Pay Level 14 of the Pay Matrix (or equivalent) in their parent cadre.
4. Age and Tenure
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 60 years as of the application closing date (relaxable for Government Servants).
- Tenure: The appointment is for a single term of five years or until the age of 65, whichever comes first.
5. Other Requirements
- Selection Process: Conducted by a Selection Committee in accordance with DoPT guidelines.
