Brahmaputra Board is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament (Brahmaputra Board Act 1980) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. The jurisdiction of Brahmaputra Board includes Brahmaputra and Barak Valley and covers all the States of the North Eastern Region including Sikkim and part of West Bengal falling under Brahmaputra basin. The Board consists of 21 Members under the Chairman, Brahmaputra Board (4 full time Members and 17 part time Members).

1. Vice-Chairman
- Educational Qualification: Must possess a Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
- Service Requirements (A. General Officers):
- Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre.
- OR 2 years of regular service in Level-13A (Rs. 1,31,100-2,16,600).
- OR 3 years of regular service in Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100-2,15,900).
- Service Requirements (B. All India Service Officers):
- Holding an analogous post with experience in Water Resources Management.
- OR 2 years in Level-13A or 3 years in Level-13 with experience in Water Resources Management.
- Age Limit: Maximum 58 years as of the closing date.
2. Financial Adviser
- Educational Qualification: Must have a Degree in Commerce or Economics from a recognized University or Institute.
- Service Requirements:
- Holding an analogous post on a regular basis.
- OR 2 years of regular service in Level-13A (Rs. 1,31,100-2,16,600).
- OR 3 years of regular service in Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100-2,15,900).
- Desirable: Qualified CA/Cost Accountant/MBA (Finance) with 15 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance.
- Age Limit: Maximum 58 years as of the closing date.
3. Chief Engineer (Level-II)
- Educational Qualification: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Service Requirements:
- Holding an analogous post on a regular basis.
- OR 2 years of regular service in Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100-2,15,900).
- OR 6 years of regular service in Level-12 (Rs. 78,800-2,09,200).
- Desirable: 3 years of work experience in Water Resources Management.
- Age Limit: Maximum 56 years as of the closing date.
General Recruitment Conditions
- Method: By Deputation (including short-term contract).
- Period of Deputation: Ordinarily not to exceed 5 years.
- Prohibited Candidates: Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion (feeder grade) are not eligible for deputation.
- Application Requirements: Must apply “Through Proper Channel” with Bio-data, ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years, Vigilance Clearance, Integrity Certificate, and Cadre Clearance.
