About Gauhati High Court
The Gauhati High Court is a premier judicial institution in Northeast India, established on April 5, 1948, following the Government of India Act 1935. Originally inaugurated as the High Court of Assam by the then Chief Justice of India, H.J. Kania, it was later renamed in 1971 under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act. It holds a unique position in the Indian judiciary for having the largest jurisdiction in terms of the number of states, currently serving Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.

- Educational Qualification: Minimum Class X (HSLC) standard from a recognized Board.
- Technical Requirement: Must possess a valid LMV driving license.

- Multi Tasking Staff (MTS)
- Educational Qualification: Minimum Class VIII (8th) standard. Anyone who has passed HSSLC (12th) or above is ineligible to apply.

2. Principal Seat of the Gauhati High Court
- Private Secretary (Stenographer Grade-I)
- Educational Qualification: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University. Due weightage is given to law graduates.
- Technical Requirement: Must have a diploma in Stenography in English with a minimum shorthand speed of 120 wpm and a typing speed of 50 wpm on a computer.
- State Requirement: Must furnish a valid Employment Exchange Registration Number for the state of Assam.

- Educational Qualification: Must be a graduate from a UGC-recognized University.
