About APSC
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is the premier constitutional body responsible for recruiting candidates for various civil service positions within the state government of Assam. Headquartered at Jawaharnagar, Khanapara in Guwahati, its primary mandate is to conduct examinations and interviews for prestigious roles such as the Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS).

Name of the Post: Assistant Geologist in the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Assam under Mines and Minerals Department.
Number of Vacancies: 11 (Eleven) posts.
Scale of Pay:
- Pay Scale: Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 1,10,000/-
- Grade Pay: Rs. 12,700/-

Other Criteria of APSC Recruitment 2026
1. Nationality and Residency
- Citizenship: The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.
- State Residency: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- Proof of Domicile: Candidates must upload a copy of a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes, or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate as proof of residency.
2. Educational Qualification
- Minimum Degree: Candidates must hold one of the following degrees from a government-recognized University or Institution:
- M.Sc. in Geology
- M.Sc. in Applied Geology
- M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geology
- M.Tech in Applied Geology
- Integrated M.Sc. Tech in Applied Geology
- Minimum Marks: Candidates must have achieved at least a Second Class (45%) in their degree.
- Required Documents: Relevant semester/yearly mark sheets reflecting the subjects and the final pass certificate must be uploaded.
3. Age Limit (As of January 1, 2026)
- General Age Range: Candidates must be between 21 and 38 years of age.
- Age Relaxations:
- SC / ST: Relaxable by 5 years (up to 43 years).
- OBC / MOBC: Relaxable by 3 years (up to 41 years).
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability): Relaxable by 10 years irrespective of category.
- Proof of Age: Only the Class-X or Class-XII Examination Admit Card, Pass Certificate, or Marksheet issued by a recognized Board/Council displaying the Date of Birth will be accepted.
4. Other Key Criteria
- Small Family Norms: Candidates must submit a declaration regarding “The Small Family Norms” using Form-A at the time of application.
- Health: Selected candidates must be in sound bodily health and undergo a mandatory medical examination as required by the Government.
- Government Employees: Those already in regular Assam government service must upload a certificate proving employment or a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) if they are seeking pay protection or continuation of service.
How to Apply for APSC Recruitment 2026
1. Registration (One-Time Registration)
- Where to Register: Go to the APSC Recruitment website at https://apscrecruitment.in.
- Process: If you haven’t registered before, click on the ‘Register Here’ link and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process by filling in your basic details.
- Important: Make sure to use a valid and active email address and mobile number for registration.
2. Filling Out the Application
- Login: Log in to the portal using your registered email/mobile number and password.
- Update Profile: Ensure your OTR profile is fully updated, as required certificates for age, caste, and educational qualifications will be fetched directly from it.
- Review Details: Fill out all mandatory fields carefully and use the ‘Preview’ option to verify all information and ensure your uploaded documents are clear and legible. Note: No editing is allowed after final submission.
3. Document Upload Guidelines
All documents must be uploaded in PDF format and meet the following requirements:
- File Size: Must not exceed 4 MB.
- Legibility: Documents must be clearly readable (scanning at 200 dpi in greyscale is recommended).
- Photo & Signature: Upload a recent photograph (not older than 3 months) and your signature, both sized between 50 KB to 200 KB.
4. Application Fees & Payment
After completing the form, you must pay the prescribed application fee online:
- General Candidates: Rs. 297.20 (Fee: Rs. 250 + Processing: Rs. 47.20).
- OBC / MOBC Candidates: Rs. 197.20 (Fee: Rs. 150 + Processing: Rs. 47.20).
- SC / ST / BPL / PwBD Candidates: Rs. 47.20 (Fee: NIL + Processing: Rs. 47.20).
- Payment Mode: Pay digitally via the portal or visit a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) if you do not have online banking/debit card facilities.
5. Final Submission
- Submit the application form online after completing the payment. Your application is only valid once the fee payment is successful.
- Print out and retain a hard copy of the submitted application form for future reference.
