1. Basic Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who arrived before January 1, 1962, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific countries to settle permanently in India.
  • Age Limit: The age requirement varies by post category, generally ranging from 18 to 30 years as of January 1, 2026. Specific examples include:
    • 18-25 years: Born between Jan 2, 2001, and Jan 1, 2008.
    • 20-30 years: Born between Jan 2, 1996, and Jan 1, 2006.
  • Essential Qualifications (EQ): Candidates must possess the specific educational qualification and any required experience for their chosen post as of the closing date, May 4, 2026. The levels include Matriculation, Higher Secondary (10+2), and Graduation & above.

2. Selection Process Criteria

  • Computer Based Examination (CBE): Recruitment is conducted through an objective-type multiple-choice examination. 
  • Shortlisting for Scrutiny: Based on CBE performance, candidates are shortlisted for document scrutiny.
  • Skill Test: For certain posts, qualifying skill tests such as typing or computer proficiency are mandatory.

3. Medical and Conduct Standards

  • Health: Candidates must be in good mental and bodily health and free from physical defects that could interfere with their duties. Likened candidates will undergo a medical examination.

Conduct: Any involvement in malpractices during the examination or providing false information will lead to disqualification and potential debarment for 1 to 7 years.

How to Apply for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Recruitment 2026

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

Before applying for a specific post, you must generate a New OTR on the official website, as older registrations from the previous website are no longer functional.

  • Where to Register: Visit the SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in and click the “Login or Register” button.
  • Information Needed: You will need a valid mobile number and email ID (both verified via OTP), an Aadhaar number (or an alternative ID like a Voter ID, PAN, or Passport), and details of your Matriculation (10th) examination.
  • Authentication: The Commission advises using Aadhaar-based authentication during the OTR process.
  • Password Creation: You will receive a registration number and an auto-generated password; you must change this password upon your first login.

Step 2: Filling the Online Application

Once your OTR is complete, you can proceed to the actual examination application.

  • Login: Use your registration number and password to log in to the portal.
  • Select Examination: Click the “Apply” link under the “Phase-XIV/2026/Selection Posts Examination” section in the “Live Examination” tab.
  • Post Details: You must apply for each category of post separately. Select the Region and Post Code for the specific job you are interested in.
  • Photograph Capture: You are not required to upload a pre-existing photo. The application module will capture a real-time, live photograph of you while you are filling out the form.
  • Signature Upload: You must upload a scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format, sized between 10 KB and 20 KB.

Step 3: Fee Payment

  • Amount: The application fee is Rs. 100/- per post category.
  • Exemptions: Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM categories are exempted from paying the fee.

Payment Method: Fees can be paid online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Credit/Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay).

Deadline: Online applications must be submitted by May 4, 2026 (23:00 Hrs).

Fee Payment Deadline: The last date to make an online fee payment is May 5, 2026 (23:00 Hrs).

Correction Window: If you make a mistake, a correction window will be open from May 11 to May 13, 2026.
